Make-Up Of The Moment #1

Considering I don't change my make-up routine often enough to warrant day-to-day posts, I thought I'd begin a mini series showing what my 'make-up of the moment' is on a monthly basis. (I use the word monthly very loosely though, as I know how terrible I am at keeping to a schedule…!)

Throughout January and the start of February I've kept to quite a neutral palette of nude lips and a peachy blush, while focusing more on giving my eyes the attention with a smoky look. I've also ventured out of my kohl eye pencil comfort zone and thrown myself head first into the world of liquid eyeliners - If anyone out there has a steady hand they'd like to lend me it would be much appreciated!

BASE: Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum (51 Vanilla) // Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer (1 Fair) // Rimmel Stay Matte Powder (OO1 Translucent)

COLOUR: MUA Blusher (Shade 4) // Topshop Crescent Moon Highlighter

EYES: Revlon Colour Stay Eyeshadow Palette (525 Siren) // Rimmel Scandaleyes Precision Micro Eyeliner (OO1 Black) // Benefit They're Real Mascara // AVON Glimmerstick Brow Definer (Blonde)

LIPS: Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss (Super Natural)

The Rimmel Liquid Eyeliner is a relatively new purchase of mine, and after trying and testing it a few times I'm a little bit disappointed, and definitely wouldn't repurchase it. It's definitely worth paying the extra £2 for my beloved Soap & Glory Supercat Liner!
In other (quite exciting) news, I recently did a guest post for the lovely author Lindsey Kelk on her website, which you can see here. I spent my teenage years reading her 'I Heart' series, so the fact that she has not only recognised my blog but actually used my review, makes the 16 year old Leanne in me very happy indeed!

After a bit of a dodgy start to the year I now have a lot planned for my blog in 2014, so make sure you stick around. What is your make-up product of the moment? Let me know!

A Mini Make-up Haul!

What's the best thing to do a week before Christmas when you've just bought far too many presents and now have a dangerously low bank balance? Go make-up shopping apparently if i'm anything to go by. I was in Boots buying some bits for my sister for Christmas the other day and found myself picking these things up to add to my collection - You've got to give into it sometimes haven't you?

The first thing I got was the Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express Mascara. I've used it a good few times now and find that it's great for creating quite a natural look while still adding much needed volume and curl to my lashes. I'd definitely repurchase it!

I also bought this eyeshadow trio from MUA (I picked up 'Innocence'). MUA are one of my favourite drugstore brands for eyeshadows and palettes, not only because they're cheap as chips, but because the quality and pigmentation is great too.

Last but not least I got yet another lipstick from Rimmel. I've been after a more 'wintery' nude shade for a while now and 007 Asia fits the bill perfectly - it's a very 'your lips but better' colour and adds a nice finishing touch to my make-up. I'm never left unimpressed by a Rimmel lipstick either, the formula is lovely!

I'm off to go and wrap some more presents now, it's a seemingly never ending task...

Wrapped up warm! | New Zara coat

My little sister recently put a claim on my winter coat from last year, so whilst I was in Manchester at the weekend I made sure that I kept an eye out for a new one. I'm a bit fussy when it comes to coats, so when I came across this one with faux leather sleeves and collar in Zara (the last shop I went in I might add) I was more than happy to pay the £69.99 price tag. - It was a bit more than I wanted to pay, but I'll definitely get my use out of it!
This is what I put on earlier when I braved the cold and went for a little walk, the weather definitely feels wintery outside now so a scarf was a bit of an essential. I also needed a bit of colour in my outfit!

Here's a close up so you can see the sleeves a bit better. - I love the silver zips, it's all in the details!

I went for a size S in this coat and I generally wear a size UK 8. It fits me just right and I can comfortably fit a jumper underneath, but if you're anything above an 8 it might be a bit of a squeeze!

Finally, here's a (bit of a dodgily timed) picture of my nails at the moment. I'm still loving Bobbing For Baubles by Essie, I think I need to keep a look out for a new shade to try! Let me know if you have any suggestions on some wintery nail polishes.

I can't seem to find this coat on Zara's website to link it at the moment, but they had quite a few in store, so I'd head there if you like the look of it. I hope you enjoyed this slightly different post today, let me know what you think!

Essie | Bobbing For Baubles

Bad lighting and unshapely nails aside, a nail polish I've just recently bought and have been loving lately is Essie's Bobbing For Baubles. I'm not sure if it's the festive sounding name or the the colour that appeals to me more, but I can't get enough of it!
These photos don't really do this nail polish any justice when it comes to the colour - depending on the lighting, the shade can range from grey, to black, to a lovely dusty navy blue, which is perfect for this time of year and just goes with everything. I know I should probably be sporting Christmassy nail art or glittery polish considering it's December, but for now I'll be sticking to my plain old polishes!

What's your favourite polish at the moment?
